Birth of Brig. Gen. Thomas A. Smyth in Cork 1832

#OnThisDay 1832 Brig. Gen. Thomas Alfred Smyth, one of the best Union generals, was born in Ballyhooly, Cork. Smyth fought at Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville & Gettysburg. He was shot in the mouth by a sniper &died on the same day General Lee surrendered.
