#OnThisDay 1917 At the Battle of Tunnel Trench, a diversionary attack for the Battle of Cambrai, the “swift & successful operation by 16th Irish Division was a model of attack.” The Irish captured 3,000 yards of trench, took 635 prisoners & killed 300.
