#OnThisDay 1805 The Battle of Trafalgar was won by Admiral Nelson & the Royal Navy. Nearly half of Nelson’s sailors were Irish. On his flagship were 94 Irishmen, including the ship surgeon Sir William Beatty from Derry (seen below with red waistcoat) who was at Nelson’s side when he died.
