#OnThisDay 1649 New Ross, Wexford fell to Oliver Cromwell & his New Model Army. The garrison surrendered just as a hole in the town walls was made. Cromwell allowed them to leave with their arms. No civilians were killed but Catholicism would not be tolerated.
