#OnThisDay 1943 Sgt. William Patrick Maher from Clonmel, Tipperary was killed in action. Maher was a bomb aimer aboard an RAF Halifax JD457. Maher’s plane (and 19 other RAF planes) were shot down as they flew over Mannheim, Germany on a clear night sky.
