I'm David, I'm from Ireland. I am an avid fan of history. I have my B.A. in History, my M.A. in Military History and Strategic Studies,a Post Qualification Diploma in History and I've been teaching History for five years now.
I wanted to create a podcast that examines, in great detail, major Irish battles and battles allover the world in various wars that Irish people played a significant part in.

#OnThisDay 1867 The ‘Manchester Martyrs’ were publicly hanged outside of Salford Gaol in front of a crowd of 10,000 people. William Allen, Michael Larkin, & Michael O’Brien were executed for the death of a policeman during a rescue of two incarcerated Fenians.
#OnThisDay 1963 John Fitzgerald Kennedy, the 35th President of the United States was assassinated in Dallas, Texas. Kennedy studied in Harvard, was a senator for Massachusetts, won a Pulitzer Prize, was a WW2 vet who saved his crew after being sank.
#OnThisDay 1920 Captain Paddy McCarthy, No.2 Cork Brigade was killed when they ambushed Black and Tans, who had been terrorising the locals in Millstreet, Cork. McCarthy was one of the escapees, along with Austin Stack, from Strangeways Prison the previous year.
#OnThisDay 1920 Peadar Clancy, Dick McKee & Conor Clune were arrested, taken prisoner in Dublin Castle, tortured & shot while ‘trying to escape”. McKee was OC Dublin Brigade & Clancy Vice Commandant, but Clune was not an IRA volunteer.
#OnThisDay 1920 Auxiliaries & RIC fired into the crowd at Croke Park. In ninety seconds, 14 people were killed including Tipp footballer Michael Hogan & three boys aged 10, 11 &14. Jane Boyle 26, due to be married 5 days later, was also killed.
