#OnThisDay 1798 William Aylmer & his United Irishmen surrender at Timahoe, Kildare.”The rank & file were allowed to give up their arms & leave unmolested although the leaders were arrested” some escaped. Aylmer ended up fighting with Simón Bolívar in Venezuela.
