MnáMondays: The ‘Ballad of Ann Flood’ 1798

In the 1798 ‘Ballad of Ann Flood’, the author celebrates the reaction of Ann Flood who killed a Hessian captain in self defence after the Battle of New Ross. The writer laments: ‘she should have been with us on Vinegar Hill, with a fine pike the foe to kill’.
