#OnThisDay 1916 Cathal Brugha, second in command of the South Dublin Union garrison was badly wounded in an attack & shot 25 times, 9 serious wounds. It was thought he would not survive his wounds, yet he still fired on British troops & sang “God Save Ireland”.
