#OnThisDay 1916 Pte James Crozier, from Belfast, was executed for desertion. Crozier was filled with rum beforehand & had to be carried to the post, where he was hooked onto like ‘meat in a butcher’s shop’, boasted Frank Crozier (of later, Auxiliary ‘fame’). His execution squad were men of his own battalion and they shot wide so he was shot in the head by the officer.
