Birth of Confederate Poet Col. Thomas O’Hara 1820

#OnThisDay 1820 Col Theodore O’Hara was born in Kentucky. A Confederate, he is best remembered for his poem, Bivouac of the Dead;

‘On Fame’s eternal camping-ground

Their silent tents are spread,

And Glory guards, with solemn round,

The bivouac of the dead’
