#OnThisDay 1879 Around 1,300 British soldiers were killed by Zulu warriors at the Battle of Isandlwana. Outnumbered 20:1 Leitrim man Col. Anthony Durnford was blamed for this loss, though in reality Lord Chelmsford used him as a scapegoat to save his own name.
