Birth of Edward Hand, Adjutant General of Continental Army 1744

#OnThisDay 1744 Major General Edward Hand was born in Offaly. Originally a surgeon’s mate with the British Army, he retired in 1774 &settled in the US. Hand joined the Americans in 1775, became Adjutant General & was at the surrender at Yorktown with Washington.
