#OnThisDay 1841 Richard Dunphy was born in Ireland, moved to New York & joined the US Navy. During the Battle of Mobile Bay 1864 he”performed his duties with skill & courage” despite heavy fire & lost both arms above the elbow. He was awarded the Medal of Honor.

I'm David, I'm from Ireland. I am an avid fan of history. I have my B.A. in History, my M.A. in Military History and Strategic Studies,a Post Qualification Diploma in History and I've been teaching History for five years now.
