#OnThisDay 1819 Mary Sophie Hill, the ‘Florence Nightingale of the Army of Northern Virginia’ was born in Dublin. While living in New Orleans, Mary’s joined the Confederate Army ‘to keep an eye’ on her brother as he wasn’t soldier material. Both survived.
