#OnThisDay 1600 Lord Mountjoy & his English army tried to force their way through the Moyry Pass to Armagh. They were stopped by Hugh O’Neill who fought them for hours until Mountjoy had to withdraw. Mountjoy tried again days later but again was forced back. Mountjoy then left for Dundalk and O’Neill left the Pass unguarded.
