#OnThisDay 1939 Montague Hulton-Harrop was the RAF’s first fighter pilot casualty at the Battle of Barking Creek. He was shot down in a friendly fire incident by John Freeborn & Dublin-man Flying Officer Vincent Byrne (Pic). Both were acquitted.
