#OnThisDay 1906 Michael Davitt, founder of the Irish National Land League, Fenian arms-smuggler & politician died. Davitt’s drive to organise tenant farmers in Ireland during and following the Land War, ultimately ended the landlord system with tenants able to purchase their land with government loans.
