#OnThisDay 1916 Karl Spindler, Captain of the captured Aud scuttled his ship to avoid its weapons cargo from falling into British hands. The arming of the Volunteers was not to take place. As it sank, he raised the Imperial German Flag. He was a POW for 2 years
