The First Political Assassination of the War of Independence? 1919

#OnThisDay 1919 Resident Magistrate John C. Milling, Westport Mayo died, having been shot by the IRA the previous night. This was one of the first political assassinations of the War of Independence. Milling had sent Volunteers to prison for unlawful drilling. #Ireland #History
