US General James Gavin born in NYC 1907

#OnThisDay 1907 General James Gavin was born in New York to unwed-Irish parents who put him up for adoption. Gavin became the youngest Major General in the @USArmy. He commanded the 82nd Airborne Division in WW2 & later aimed to end segregation in the Army.
