Private William McCann ‘The Lion of Houplines” 1914

#OnThisDay 1914 Pvt William McCann of the Royal Dublin Fusiliers singlehandedly killed six German soldiers in a cafe near Armentières but was mortally wounded in the attack. His brave actions earned him the name, “The Lion of Houplines”.
