#OnThisDay 1920 Seán Treacy was killed in a shootout on Talbot street with British intelligence officers after a Squad operation, he was assigned to, was cancelled. Treacy was one of the group of IRA who ambushed the RIC at Soloheadbeg often quoted as the starting point of the Irish War of Independence. Treacy was 25.
