#OnThisDay 1922 Ernie O’Malley, Commander of the Anti-Treaty forces during the Civil War is captured by Free State soldiers following a shootout on Ailesbury Road, Dublin. O’Malley is shot 20 times. He killed a soldier but also shot Anno O’Rahilly in the face. #Ireland #History

#OnThisDay 1920 No. 1 Tipperary Brigade Flying Column ambushed & shot intelligence officer Lieutenant H.J. Hambleton. His last words were supposedly “You bastards, you got me at last”. His unit, the Northamptonshire Regiment burned premises in Nenagh that night.
