IRA attack Drumlish RIC Barracks 1920

#OnThisDay 1920 Sean Connolly and Sean MacEoin led IRA Volunteers from Longford in an attack on the RIC barracks at Drumlish. Faulty detonators prevented their 60lb mine from exploding. This was very lucky for them as they had only retreated 30 yards away to detonate. If the mine had exploded, they’d most likely have been killed the blast and there wouldn’t have been much left from the barracks either. The column had to pull back once a stalemate began. There were no casualties on either side.
