Margaret ‘Mary’ Hartney was the first Cumann na mBan member killed during the Irish Civil War. In August, Hartnett was providing first aid in IRA HQ in the Dunraven Arms hotel in Adare, Limerick when the building suffered a direct hit by Free State artillery.
