#OnThisDay 1941 Lt Lord Hugh Tristam de la Poer Beresford, from Waterford, died when the ship he was aboard, the HMS Kelly (captained by Louis Mountbatten) was bombed & sunk by the Luftwaffe during the Battle of Crete. He is buried in El Alamein, Egypt.
