Josephine McGowan was the first member of Cumann na mBan to die in the Revolutionary Period. McGowan fought at Marrowbone Lane during the Rising. In 1918, the DMP baton charged a crowd protesting internment & struck McGowan on the head, killing her. She was 20. #MnáMondays
