Constable William Mitchell, a Black and Tan hanged in Mountjoy Prison 1921

#OnThisDay 1921 Constable William Mitchell, a Black and Tan was hanged in Mountjoy Prison for his part in the murder of a magistrate, Robert Dixon JP in Dunlavin, Wicklow. He was the only Black & Tan to be executed by Britain during the War of Independence.
