#OnThisDay 1916 Edward ‘Ned’ Daly was executed in Kilmainham Gaol. He told his sister, Kathleen Clarke (it has been argued that being Tom Clarke’s brother-in-law earmarked him for execution but it was most likely the staunch defence & British casualties inflicted, that he put up around the Four Courts area during the Rising), before his death that he was,
“glad and proud to die for his country & that he knew the week’s work would bring new life to Ireland.”
He was 25.

Hi,
I'm David, I'm from Ireland. I am an avid fan of history. I have my B.A. in History, my M.A. in Military History and Strategic Studies,a Post Qualification Diploma in History and I've been teaching History for five years now.
I wanted to create a podcast that examines, in great detail, major Irish battles and battles allover the world in various wars that Irish people played a significant part in.
Hope you enjoy.
