#OnThisDay 1887 Sir Alan Gordon Cunningham was born in Rathmines, Dublin. He fought in #WW1, then during #WW2 his defeat of the Italian army in east Africa saw the taking of 50,000 prisoners for 500 losses of his own men. His older brother, Andrew, was Admiral of the Fleet.
