James Connolly badly wounded during the Rising 1916

#OnThisDay 1916 James Connolly, signatory of the Irish Proclamation & Commandant of the Dublin Brigade, was shot twice, once; a light wound in the shoulder & the second; a ricochet that shattered his ankle. The latter wound resulted in him giving up his active role & him being executed in a chair in Kilmainham Jail days later.
