#OnThisDay 1916 Michael Malone & 16 Volunteers held off over 1,000 British reinforcements at the Battle of Mount Street Bridge. Malone was known to be a ‘crack shot’ and he and his Volunteers killed or wounded over 240 soldiers before their position was over run & Malone was shot while trying to escape.
