#OnThisDay 1969 L/Corporal Peter Nee from Connemara was killed in action in Quang Nam Province, Vietnam when hit by shrapnel from a 155mm round. Nee joined the @USMarineCorps in 1968. When asked why, as an Irishman, he was fighting for the US in Vietnam, LCpl Nee replied, “for the adventure”
