#OnThisDay 1535 The Fitzgerald seat of power at Maynooth Castle fell after a 6 day siege by Sir William Skeffington. It is the first use of artillery in Irish history. Skeffington executed the entire garrison. The Silken Thomas rebellion would soon be quashed. #Ireland #History
