#OnThisDay 1913 Air Commodore Dr Aidan MacCarthy was born in Cork. MacCarthy, who joined the RAF on a whim, was present at Dunkirk & Singapore when it surrendered, torpedoed twice & was in Nagasaki when the second atomic bomb was dropped. He helped the wounded.
