Cork 2 Brigade ambush RIC patrol at Fr. Murphy Bridge killing one 1921

#OnThisDay 1921 Kanturk Battalion 2nd Cork Brigade ambushed a 4 man RIC patrol at Father Murphy’s Bridge, Cork killing Constable Nicholas Somers from Wexford. The others were disarmed & ‘were allowed to go free on giving a promise to resign’ from the RIC.
