#OnThisDay 1873 Alexander Young V.C. was born in Ballinamana Galway. Young was awarded the Victoria Cross for his actions during the Boer War where he charged the enemy & captured their commander, Commandant Erasmus. Young died at the Somme during #WW1 in 1916.
