#Onthisday 1814 Michael Kelly Lawler was born in Monasterevin, Kildare. His family emigrated to Maryland then Illinois. Lawler was an antebellum lawyer but re-joined the Union army & was promoted to Brigadier-General. He served in the Vicksburg Campaign & survived the war.
