#OnThisDay 2001 Irish army UN Peacekeepers left Camp Shamrock in Lebanon or “The Leb”, after 23 years. 32,000 individuals tours & the deaths of 47 soldiers. Due to hostilities in the area, the Irish @defenceforces returned in 2011.
