#OnThisDay 1771 Brigadier Juan (John) MacKenna was born in Monaghan. MacKenna fought with the Spanish against the French&then in Chile where he rose through the ranks eventually fighting for independence from Spain. MacKenna was allies with Bernardo O’Higgins.
