#OnThisDay 1915 Daniel Daly, US Marines, led his 30 men against an enemy force of 400 at the Battle of Fort Dipitie. For this action, Daly would receive his second Medal of Honor. His first was in 1900 during the Boxer Rebellion in China. Daly is one of two Marines to be awarded the MOH for two different actions.
Daly is also famous for shouting “Come on, you sons of bitches, do you want to live forever?” to his men during the Battle of Belleau Wood in WW1. Although his words may have been exaggerated over time.
