#OnThisDay 1918 Royal Irish Fusiliers. report “The day passed quietly except for heavy enemy counter preparation in which only 4.2s and 77mm were used. During the night Mansard Farm and copse K.24.b.5.3 were occupied without opposition. Few casualties suffered during the night from machine-gun fire. 2nd Lieutenant Bryson was killed on patrol whilst reconnoitring Goldflake Farm which was found to be occupied in force by the enemy.”
