#OnThisDay 1857 John Alexander VC was killed during the Siege of Lucknow. Alexander from Mullingar, was awarded the Victoria Cross for leaving his trench under heavy fire & saving the lives of several soldiers including a captain at the Siege of Sebastopol in 1855.
