#OnThisDay 1649 Oliver Cromwell began the siege of Drogheda which would last just over a week. He would take the town, kill the garrison & many of the town’s inhabitants & clergy. Also on this day 1658, Cromwell died. In 1661 his body was dug up & put on trial.
