#OnThisDay 1919 The Irish Republican Army was formally established by Dáil Éireann. The proposal was by Cathal Brugha & Terence MacSwiney. The IRA was subordinate to Dáil Éireann; the political & military struggle against British rule was thus unified. #Ireland #History
