#OnThisDay 1944 The First US Army attack Saint-Lô after a week of bombing which destroyed 95% of the city. The
set up a hospital soon afterwards. It was so good, it stayed until 1956. Among the doctors & nurses there was Samuel Beckett. #Ireland #History #WW2
