#onthisday 1836 Dr. Barry O’Meara died in London. O’Meara, from Dublin & a @tcddublin grad was aboard the HMS Bellerophon when Napoleon surrendered & ended up being his surgeon. O’Meara performed a surgery on Napoleon (a tooth extraction) & the two became close. O’Meara was removed from St. Helena, from the Navy &I denied his pension. He put Napoleon’s tooth on display & wrote a book about their time together which made him a very wealthy man.

Hi,
I'm David, I'm from Ireland. I am an avid fan of history. I have my B.A. in History, my M.A. in Military History and Strategic Studies,a Post Qualification Diploma in History and I've been teaching History for five years now.
I wanted to create a podcast that examines, in great detail, major Irish battles and battles allover the world in various wars that Irish people played a significant part in.
Hope you enjoy.
