#OnThisDay 1918 Fighter Ace pilot Capt. William Jameson Cairnes from Drogheda, Louth was shot down over France by German Ace Paul Billik. Cairnes had 6 victories, but became one of Billik’s 31 kills when his wing was shot off during the dogfight. #Ireland #History #WW1 #Pilot
