#OnThisDay 1863 during the Siege of Vicksburg 150 men volunteered for a suicide mission. 79 returned & were awarded the Medal of Honor, 10 of whom were Irish. Among them was Donegal man Menomen O’Donnell who was the only mounted officer in the party.
